“RONNY”
A true story about depression written by Alister Fuller.

“How do you turn a Ronny into a Robb?”

When I was growing up, I heard a lot about "Mental cases" or "Mad man" or in the town where I grew up we called these people "gone case" or "two screws loose" or "he’s cuckoo" and many more terms than I can remember. I never once heard the term "Mental Illness". I suppose back then it was not considered an illness. Movies like "one flew over the cuckoo’s nest" which was released around that time and the latest NetFlix series…

I have no problems asking. The worst that can happen is that I will receive a resounding NO. So what! However, what if it goes the ‘best case scenario’ way? Then so many things can happen including me writing this story and narrating this story over a 100 times.

I started with this introduction because recently I told a close friend this story and he told me that it was a classic. That I should write and publish it for all to read. So I took his advice and got down to writing it. …

I have been a truck/bus driver for the last 12 years. In July 2017 which is about 3 years ago, I went from being obese to almost total Fitness all within 6 months. I did this mostly by dieting which included fasting, eating right and exercise. I was able to maintain this as a lifestyle with a few up’s and down’s and highs and lows over the last 3 years. 2018 for me was my best year in terms of exercise. I was totally FOCUSED. I made all those gains and I was not going to lose…

I am a bus driver from Melbourne. I used to do public transport before and on one trip, I remember well, I had these two teenage girls get into my bus. One of them had a big smile and my motto is simple, if you smile at me, then you need to have a chat with me. I want to know more about what is happening in your life.

One of my many Strengths. I took this photo from my balcony with my 300x zoom Lens Lumix GX8 Camera

Let's face it if you want to live a long and fulfilling life you need to stay healthy, be healthy, live healthy. As you get older, for someone like me at 57 years old, right now, you start to realise that all the money in the world is not going to make you live long and healthy. So you really need to put health and fitness in the forefront of your mind. There are no two ways about it.

I remember when I was 40 years old I made a decision to stay…

The disturbed man at Melbourne Central

By Alister Fuller

As a bus driver some stories are more profound than others. Some stories, when the passenger gets off my bus I have to literally stop the bus take a deep breath and just go through what has just taken place. Hair raising I should say. One such story comes to mind.

I was pulling up at Melbourne central which is the main bus stop in Melbourne. As I approached the bus stop there was a guy in his early 40s standing on the road and facing in my Direction and just…

As a bus driver I get to experience many situations and encounter many people on my travels. Here are three Stories.

This first Story is different, because it is rare that you see a middle aged lady who happened to enjoy herself too much that she was literally legless. It probably would have been a Friday night or Saturday night, it happened a few years ago so I cannot remember exactly. However the incident is clear in my mind.

It was my last trip and there were no passengers in my bus, however, the rule is we…

Airport Bus driver story.

By Alister Fuller

In my previous job I did public transport. We do get to interact with people from different walks of life and socio economic backgrounds. So you do get many opportunities to help people in more ways than just taking them from A to B. In the lower socio economic areas like Ringwood I did most of my so called good deeds. However in the Airport that is not the case. We work on strict time frames so I sometimes feel like separate from passengers. …

THE EX-SERVICE MAN. A GOOD MAN

By Alister Fuller

Dt. 2nd January 2018.

As a bus driver in Melbourne I get to experience these unique situations and encounters with some amazing people. This is one such true story.

I pulled up at the last stop at Ringwood station and waited for people to get off before I close the doors so I can take a short toilet break. However before I could close the rear door a man got in. I noticed through the corner of my eye that he bent down to pick something off the floor. I commented…

THE PARADOX OF LIFE

by Alister Fuller.

This day on 21stJuly2018.

As a bus driver I have the privilege to have these unique experiences almost on a daily basis. This one however has to be recorded and documented.

I woke up this morning grateful that I woke up in the first place. Feeling optimistic about the day ahead. I done my usual routine, my stretches and my 60 pushups. Breathing heavily I knew I was going to have a great day ahead. I arrived at work earlier than normal made my cup of tea put my 6 boiled eggs (protein) in the microwave and went to print out my run sheet…
